The song title pays homage to the rock-politics of Neil Young, and is not reference to youth, or age.

The first half of the song has environmental themes and observations from late 2023. On one hand I saw three young preschool kids arrive home from school one day. And then I thought, ‘What a horrible legacy of diminishment and degradation we have left for them'.

Then a few days later, I saw a bunch of kids (from a local private school) getting Uber Eats delivered to the beach. They were 100 meters away from a take-away store. Very lazy, sad, and expensive for the Earth.

It's been easy to point the finger at governments and corporations, but we all have a role to play in reducing our eco-footprint.

The third and fourth verses shift to global of themes of the shutting down of dissenting voices (ie Canadian truckers during the COVID pandemic), as well as the ongoing threat of nuclear war.

The chorus talks of farmers being banned from farming, to meet the agendas of global elites.

The 'new normal' is a constant acceleration of uncomfortable change.

Better batten down the hatches. There’s a storm coming.
